Isham RUSS (1829-1899) and his parents Isham RUSS (1783-1832) and Dorcas McKEITHAN (1794-1833)

I have already posted twice about Isham Russ's wife, Mary Elizabeth Pinner. Click here for her main post.

Isham RUSS (1783-6 Mar 1832 Brunswick county, North Carolina son of John RUSS and Sarah CORBETT) and Dorcas McKEITHAN (1794-1833 daughter of Moses Madison McKEITHAN and Winnea CORBETT) were first cousins ... their mothers Sarah and Winnea were daughters of James CORBETT and Mary POLLY. Sarah was born in 1748 and Winnea in 1772, according to the info I've been given. I don't actually have any 1st hand evidence of any of this for myself.

Isham and Dorcas were the parents of 2 children that I know of:

1- Sarah RUSS b. Apr 1825 (m. about 1849 to John G. HALL)--I have a note in Sarah's file that "Dr. Thomas Wright of Wilmington, North Carolina was Sarah's foster parent." Don't know where I got that from. But her father died when she was about 7 and her mom died when she was about 8...my question is why didn't a relative raise her? And of course, I really don't know--maybe Thomas Wright is a relative.

2- Isham RUSS 1829-1899 (m. about 1853 to Mary Elizabeth PINNER). Since Isham was only 3-4 when his parents died, who raised him? Did Dr. Wright raise him too?

2-Fannie E. RUSS b. Aug 1856 d. between 1910 and 1920 census (m. 27 Mar 1879 to Daniel Davis BULLARD)

3-Adrena Cornelia RUSS b. 1859 d. before 1925

4-Mary Ann/Polly/Molly A. RUSS 7 Mar 1861-6 Apr 1941 (m. about 1884 to Michael McCORMACK)

5-Isham A. RUSS b. Jan 1864 d. between 1900 and 1925 (m. 10 Dec 1891 to Jessie BRYAN)

6-Clarence T. RUSS b. Nov 1867 d. between 1900 and 1925 (m. about 1890 to Mary Francis--I don't know if Francis is her last name or just a middle name--I think it might be a last name)

7-James Dexter RUSS 23 Mar 1870-29 Dec 1933 (m. 26 Apr 1899 to Sally PEACOCK)

8-Etta Johnnie RUSS 19 Jun 1871-4 Jun 1925 (m.8 Feb 1888 to Samuel Kolb MEIGS)--my ancestors
